The Devil as portrayed in Current Film Art
Schieblová, Veronika ; Martínková, Libuše (advisor) ; Kropáček, Luboš (referee)
The thesis "The Devil as Portrayed in Contemporary Film Art. Focused on American and British Production from the 60s until the Present" discusses the portrayal of the Devil in contemporary American and British film. The work is divided into two main parts. The theoretical part summarizes the concept of the Devil from the perspective of different religions, followed by a chapter on the concept of the Devil in the visual arts. The practical part of the work analyzes films that represent the Devil as a man or a zoomorphic creature, films dealing with exorcism, and finally films that portray the Devil as the Antichrist. The work examines the symbols used in films to capture the Devil in its entirety. It deals primarily with the Devil's appearance, character and power as well as the methods used to demonstrate this power. The analysis of the filmmakers' interpretation is then compared with the Devil as portrayed in traditional religion and art. The goal is to systematically develop an overview of the Devil as a recurring character in contemporary film art and at the same time examine the relationship between film, religious and artistic conceptions of the Devil.
Art and Care of Soul in Jan Patočka
Josl, Jan ; Ševčík, Miloš (advisor) ; Zátka, Vlastimil (referee) ; Frei, Jan (referee)
Summary: This work approaches Patočka's philosophy of art from the perspective of ‚care of the soul'. The first part of work describes evolution of the ‚care of the soul' in context of Patočka's philosophy of history from he 30s up to 70s. Based on this description I recognize experience of the soul as the experience of human freedom as inseparable from the ethical and methaphysical dimensions. The second part approaches art from this perspective.Patočka's intepretations of art show that Patočka saw art not only as a manifestation of human freedom, but as reflection of human position in the world and his relation to aletheia as well. However, art stays half way between myth and philosophy due to the fact, that the movement of freedom is not as absolute in art as it is in philosophy. This is evident in expressions that art takes from the fields of our emotions and experience and thus still remains for Patočka in connection with the world and our everydayness. Therefore art represents for Patočka only limited experience of the soul. It is mostly the momentum of transcendence that is important and interesting for Patočka in art, but not the results that, no matter how deep, are still insights about the things in the world. Poštová, Lucie ; Daniel, Ladislav (advisor) ; Raudenský, Martin (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the topic of board games. It is divided into three parts, the theoretical, practical and didactic part. In the theoretical part, the author describes iconography of board games and playing board games from the Middle Ages to the present time. The use of board games is interpreted on specific works of art in painting, sculpture and crafts. The practical part was focused on the creation of an art history educational board game, which develops knowledge in the form of a quiz with questions and answers. The game was redesigned as a digital / online version and a mobile application. Versions of the game were created in a unified author's design. In the didactic part, the author examines whether the game is a suitable teaching material for teachers, students and a group of respondents from the general public. It also includes a methodology for secondary school teachers on how to deal with play in teaching.

Chapter is based on the assumption that each historical period is related to a particular stage of technological development, and to a specific means of visual representation. From this perspective it looks at how media relate to the concept of the author, and at the need for a new understanding of the artist’s role, including shifts in the definitions of art and our uderstanding of an artwork. Art projects by Federico Díaz and Jakub Jansa are presented as examples.

Beginning with the oldest hagiographic texts, which are not only records of literary history, but in many cases are important in terms of references to building monuments and artworks, among which Kristian's legend is dominant, through the texts of medieval chroniclers, Kosmas, his followers, the Chronicle of Zbraslav Monastery and chronicles from the reign of Charles IV., across the historiography of the Baroque period, which is without a doubt dominated by the work of Bohuslav Balbín and Thomas Pešina of Čechorod, and the period of national awakening, through a boom industry in the nineteenth century, when Ferdinand Josef Lehner made history with his founding work, to the culmination in the activities of representatives of the field the first half of the twentieth century, when it was represented by personalities such as Antonin Podlaha, Eduard Sittler, and Josef Cibulka.
